High quality Construction Chemicals products

Our construction chemicals include a range of products other than the standard cement, aggregate and water, that are added either during the concrete mixing or applied post-installation in order to enhance the performance or durability of the finished concrete.

Bonding Agents and Admixtures

Concrete bonding agents, or concrete bonding adhesives, include a choice of different products and materials that can be effectively used to create a strong bond between new and old concrete surfaces.

Concrete Curing Agents and Retarders

Concrete curing agents are used to cure, harden and seal fresh or hardened concrete. Surface retarders, sometimes called surface deactivators, are used to deliberately delay the set of the surface of the concrete whilst allowing the rest of concrete to continue curing.

Formwork Treatments and Release Agents

Release agents facilitate the easy removal of the formwork or shuttering, preventing the adhesion of the fresh concrete to the formwork surface without affecting the finished surface of the cured concrete.

Sealers

Concrete sealers are the quickest, easiest and most effective product for protecting plain or decorative concrete, sealing it against grime, wear, spills and traffic and enhancing its durability

What construction chemicals brands do we stock?

We stock and supply a choice of high-quality concrete additives, bonding and curing agents, surface retarders, release agents and sealers. This includes products from Adomast and Tradecc.

Frequently Asked Questions About Construction Chemicals

What are concrete chemicals, and what are they used for?

Concrete chemicals are additives or admixtures used in concrete mixtures to modify properties such as setting time, strength, workability, durability, and appearance. They include a wide range of substances such as water reducers, accelerators, retarders, plasticisers, air-entraining agents, colourants, sealers, and curing compounds.

How do concrete chemicals affect concrete properties?

Concrete chemicals interact with cementitious materials, aggregates, and water in concrete mixtures to alter hydration reactions, improve workability, reduce water content, control setting time, enhance strength development, increase durability, and achieve desired aesthetic finishes.

Can concrete chemicals be used in combination with each other?

Yes, concrete chemicals can be used in combination with each other to achieve desired concrete properties and performance characteristics. However, it’s essential to consider compatibility, dosage rates, and potential interactions between different chemicals to ensure optimal results.

Do concrete chemicals require special mixing procedures?

Some concrete chemicals may require special mixing procedures, such as pre-blending with other materials or adjusting water-to-cement ratios, to ensure uniform distribution and effectiveness. It’s crucial to follow manufacturer’s instructions and industry best practices for mixing concrete chemicals accurately.

How do I choose the right concrete chemicals for my project?

Selecting the right concrete chemicals depends on factors such as project requirements, concrete mix design, environmental conditions, performance specifications, and desired outcomes. It’s essential to consult with a qualified concrete professional or supplier to determine the most suitable chemicals for your specific application.
