Denso Protal 7300™ Dark Grey Technical Information
Composition
Protal 7300 (UK) is a solvent-free epoxy coating.
Uses
Protal 7300 (UK) helps coat the exterior of pipelines, structures or other steel surfaces that may be wet or damp due to the environment or atmospheric condensation. Therefore, it may suit applications where surface moisture can make standard coating work more difficult.
Service Temperature: -10°C to +65°C
Characteristics
Protal 7300 (UK) has the following characteristics:
- can be applied to wet and damp surfaces,
- high build, up to 1250 µm in one coat,
- has excellent adhesion to wet and damp surfaces, and
- has excellent gouge, abrasion and impact resistance.
Surface Preparation
Prepare surfaces by abrasive blast cleaning to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2 ½. In addition, the abrasive cleaning material should use an appropriate blend of abrasive media to produce an angular surface profile of 75 µm to 100 µm.
Application
Use as supplied in pre-weighed packs Part A (base component) with Part B (hardener). Initially, stir the base and hardener independently. Then, add the hardener to the base and mix at a slow constant speed to avoid introducing air into the product until it reaches a uniform grey colour without streaks. Also, make sure all sides of the container are scraped. Apply with a Denso Protal Applicator pad, roller or brush. If applying to a wet surface, displace water as the coating is applied.
Use a wet film thickness gauge to measure the coating thickness throughout the application process.
For complete instructions, please refer to the Protal 7300 (UK) Hand Application Specifications. Application Temperature: +5°C to +65°C.
At low temperatures, warm Protal 7300 (UK) to +15°C to facilitate mixing.
Thinning/Cleaning
Do not thin. After use, clean equipment using MEK or equivalent solvent cleaner.
Availability
Protal 7300 (UK) comes in 1 L kits. However, other sizes may be available upon request.
Storage conditions
Shelf life is 24 months when stored in original containers at +5°C to +35°C. On job sites where temperatures are below +15°C, keep the product warm to support proper mixing.
Waste material
Please avoid or minimise waste wherever possible. Also, do not discard waste material, including packaging, in the surrounding environment. Follow all relevant legislation for disposal.
Health & Safety
Wear protective clothing and ensure adequate ventilation. In addition, avoid contact with skin and eyes. See Safety Data Sheet for further information.
